Park Species Detail: Checklist information (Park Status) updated 4/8/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist- cites Harrison, A. Fuller (1999 or 2000- yet to be entered to NPspecies ) Connery et al. (1998): Reported this species during searches of watersheds within the park during 1997. Coman (1987) observed on several occasions on Northeast Creek, family groups may sometimes be encountered in spring and summer. Coman (1981): Reported for MDI, no details. Acadia National Park (1976): reported as rare during 1962-64 and 1976; reported as common during 1942, 1944, and 1965-1973. Manville (1960) reported "along the seashore at Seawall"; present on MDI but numbers have decreased and they are seldom encountered. Manville (1942): seen frequently along the saltwater and freshwater shores; Thompson and Smith (1933) report 40 mink on MDI; one taken in a trap at Round Pond on 27 September 1934 (L. Smith). Stupka (1933) estimates 40 mink on Mount Desert Island, with 7 of these within park boundaries., Park Species Data Source: Connery et al.
