Notes
Park Species Detail: Atkins and Glanz (2001): 15 individuals were captured within the park on MDI. 8 individuals were radioed and some were tracked to roosts in trees or buildings within the park. A roost of 20 to 40 individuals was located in the clay roofing tiles and cupola of the Abbe Museum during August 1998. Species is one of the more common and abundant bats throughout the U.S. and New England; also most common species captured in eastern Maine. Zimmerman (2001): 73 individuals (out of 163 total captures) of this species were captured on MDI during 1997; no specific locations given. Hazam (1992): Present at Half Moon Pond (see observation). Coman (1987, 1981) reports this species at the southern end of Long Pond. Manville (1942): 12 were observed on MDI and 5 were collected in July 1935., Park Species Data Source: Atkins and Glanz (2001); Hazam (1992); Coman (1987, 1981)
