Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, C. April, 2000:Apparently restricted to Assateague Island in Maryland, the species was found during this study to be fairly widespread and frequent in fresh to brackish marshes. It is cryptic and perhaps under-reported. It seems secure on the island and protection of adequate stands of its habitat should be adequate for conservation. No special management needs are contemplated. Based on Assateague populations alone, a rank change to S2S3 is recommended by the Maryland HeritageBiodiversity Program, with a possible rank of S3 (S3=Rare to uncommon; usually between 20 and 100 populations or occurrences; may have fewer occurrences, but with a large number of individuals in some populations; may be susceptible to large-scale disturbances)resulting if it is targeted in future searches./
Hill, 1986: Native. Perennial herb. June-Oct. Fresh marsh and salt marsh, usually brackish conditions, open areas. Infrequent and local on S part of island. Very rare in MD overall according to the MNHP, at its northern range limit. (Higgins #97). Found only in VA by Higgins at Ragged Point. MD & VA., Park Species Data Source: Lea, 2000
