Notes
Park Species Detail: Found on North Manitou Island, South Manitou Island. Intermediate forms with Storeria dekayi wrightorum (midland brownsnake) may occur in SLBE area. Status Details: Holman et al. (1993) state that the brown snake population in the Lower Peninsula is a mix between the Northern Brown Snake (S. D. dekayii) and the Midland Brown Snake (S. D. wrightorum). This mixing of subspecies may result in variation in color pattern seen in Michigan Brown snakes., Park Species Data Source: Harding, James H. 1997. Amphibians and reptiles of the Great Lakes region.
