Park Species Detail: Scope = ATBI Pilot Study; Sample Code = MT10; Determiner = 65431093; Determination Date = 2001; Preservation Method = Alcohol; Watershed Name = Chambers; Label = ATBI Plot, Cataloochee; Place Name = Cataloochee; Site Directions = From Cove Creek Road follow Cataloochee Road to Caldwell Fork Trailhead. Follow Caldwell Fork Trail 3.3 miles to Mckee Branch Trail. Follow McKee Branch Trail about 2.0 miles. There is a 70 cm dbh red maple tagged (tag #450) as a reference point to the ATBI Plot. From this red maple the corner rebar of the ATBI hectare is 43 meters at 4 degrees. Further up the trail above where the plot is located in the forest quickly changes to a Pine / Oak Forest dominated with Mt. Laurel.
