Park Species Detail: Wiegand, 2001: Plant species currently considered to be extirpated from Maryland previously reported from the survey area (from Sandy Hook, Maryland to District of Columbia line) but not successfully updated during 1999-2000 surveys. Terrell, 1970: Woods in area 3 (3 (Lock 10 to Carderock, north parking lot), ); fl. Early May. Lea, 2000: Carex aggregata MacKenzie (Glomerate Sedge)Frequent.open areas in dry woods and, less commonly, on floodplains. Also in disturbed soil, such as along C & 0 Canal towpath. This species has been listed as historical for Maryland (Maryland Natural Heritage Program, 1994). It has recently been found to be a relatively common, but often misidentified or overlooked, species in the state. Mid-May to mid-June. 484,1479 (US); 1488 (MARY); 1561 (GMUF, Grfa); 870, 1020, s.n. (Tawes); s.n. (Aacc).
