Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. (1999) documented within ANP during 1998; historically present in at least 11 of the 21 ponds in the park on Mount Desert Island; Native to Mount Desert Island, no evidence of stockings or other introductions; recently confirmed in Aunt Betty Pond (1998, J. Le), Hodgdon Pond (June 1993 and May 1994), Long Pond (July 1987, Mack), and Round Pond (1980's, MDIFW). Fuller and Cooper (1946) common in Seal Cove Pond, abundant in Echo Lake, abundant in Somes Pond, abundant in Long Pond, common in Upper Hadlock Pond, rare in Eagle Lake, and questionable in Bubble Pond during the summer of 1942; collected during surveys with seines in Jordan Pond and Eagle Lake during the summer of 1942; collected during surveys with seines in Seal Cove Pond and gillnets and seines in Long Pond during the summer of 1942.
