Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, 2000: Carex tousa (Fernald) Bicknell var. rugosperma (Mackenzie) Crins (Rough-seeded Sedge)Rare. This taxon is very similar to C. umbellata, and that name has been misapplied to it by several authors (e.g., Fernald(1950)). The taxon, which is largely confined to the mountains in Maryland, has been listed as rare in the state (Maryland Natural Heritage Program, 1994, as C. rugosperma Mack.). We report the taxon here for the first time for the Gorge and for Montgomery County. Early May. Frye and Lea s.n. (Tawes). [Hamilton, 2007: removed locational information; from Bartonia, 2002: Very similar to C. umbellata, but has a longer perigynium beak.], Park Species Data Source: Lea, 2000
