Listed by Dorn and Dorn (1999) as having only a few sightings throughout Wyoming. Listed by McEneaney (2004) as having less than 20 observations in the last 50 years. Noted by Sibley (2003) as such a rare visitor from the eastern North America that no western map was created.; Data Source: Doug Keinath-Lead Zoologist-Wyoming Natural Diversity Database.
There are no records of this species occurring in YNP; Data Source: Lisa Baril - YNP ornithologist.
Nativeness
Unknown
Nativeness Notes
Although this species is native to North America, it is not endemic or indiginous to YNP. Its occurrence in the park is essentially accidental and far outside its accepted range (McEneaney 2004, NatureServe 2006, Sibley 2003). This suggests that it does not, and probably never did, regularly occur in the park. Thus, its nativity in the park is uncertain and might best be classified as unknown or non-native.; Data Source: Terry McEneaney, YELL Ornithologist; Doug Keinath-Lead Zoologist-Wyoming Natural Diversity Database
