Park Species Detail: Britt, 1993: (resident, introduced)The goldfish is not native to the United States. Its native distribution is eastern Europe to China. There seem to be no well-established, self-sustaining populations in the United States. Most populations are sporadic, most likely due to escapement and release. 'They may be found almost anywhere in the U.S. Its size is dependent./ on environmental conditions.Spawning occurs at the same time of year as the carp, usually from late March or early April to June. Goldfish are currently present in Rock Creek./, Park Species Data Source: Britt et al 1993.
