Park Species Detail: Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996.
Long (1987): Present at the shore by Wonderland.
North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986.
Russell (1984?) common spring through fall; accidental in winter; 1 found dead near the Trenton Bridge on 11 April 1956 (A. Bagg); typical locations for this species include Sieur de Monts Spring, second growth woods along Norway Drive, and in the vicinity of Indian Point.
Bond (1969) 2 nests discovered in Southwest Harbor.
Bond (19??) fairly common summer resident; juvenile birds have been observed..
Tyson and Bond (1941): Common summer resident on MDI.
Sullivan (1937): Abundant summer resident from May to September (Pellew).
Farley (1935) reported 19 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934.
Anthony (1933): 3 banded at Great Head between 12 August 1929 and 26 June 1933.
Eliot (1931): Common in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931, less generally distributed; formerly more common than yellow-rumped warbler or Parula Warbler. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 3 June 1915 and 24 May 1916.
