Notes
Park Species Detail: Lea, C. April, 2000:This species was last recorded (in Maryland?)on Assateague Island in 1948 (Hill, 1986). This coastal salt marsh species is somewhat frequent at the southern (Virginia) end of Assateague Island (CNWR) at the apparent northern limit of its range. It likely has never have been widespread or common in Maryland. It was not seen during this study. It should be sought in high salt marshes. No recommendations from the Maryland Hertitage Biodiversity Program for rank change are suggested./
Linda Fabre August, 2004:Species also listed in Higgins (1971) and Stalter (1990) see References/
Hill, 1986: Native. Shrub. July-Sept. Salt marsh. Rare on Assateague, found once on MD portion at ferry landing, 9/1948 (MARY). Known today only from VA end at Toms Cove. (Higgins #3990). Not found in 1984. The species is at its northern range limit. MD? & VA./
