Observed by Hossack et al. (2002), Hopkins et al. (1983) and Hansen et al. (1980). Also observed by Mike Oehler and Penny Knuckles 7/2003 near south end of Mike Auney dog town.

Hopkins et al. (1983) listed this species as rare. Hansen et al. (1980) found a road kill in the South Unit and observed a live snake in the North Unit in steppe vegetation.
