Pluchea odorata auct. non (L.) Cass. is a synonym of Pluchea caroliniensis, which is not found in Louisiana (restricted to Florida) and therefore is a false report. Specimens in Barataria are Pluchea odorata (L.) Cass. Nolfo #49 (Tulane University voucher specimen) is reported to be Pluchea odorata (L.) Cass. Tulane University voucher specimen Dowling #177 was correctly determined to be Pluchea odorata (L.) Cass. And verified by D.M. Ferguson (2008). It is likely that the wrong authority was imported into NPSpecies for Pluchea odorata.; Data Source: Urbatsch, L. E., D. M. Ferguson and S. M. Zumo. 2007.
