Park Species Detail: Hill, 1986: Native. Annual or perennial herb. Flowers pink; frequent herb with pleasant resinous aroma. July-Sept. Fresh marsh, but also salt tolerant. Infrequent to locally frequent and widespread on Assateague, especially frequent in Fox Hill levels. Reported as P. purpurascens (Sw.) DC. by Higgins, a misapplied name. (Higgins #429). MD & VA.
