A casual spring and fall migrant at open water throughout the region. The six spring records are: one at the base of the Grand Wash Cliffs on 29 Mar 1970 (Meribeth M. Riffey), one at the South Rim Sewage Lagoons 17 Apr 1957 (Willard E. Dilley and Lyndon L. Hargrave), one at Walthenberg Rapid (RM 112) on the Colorado River on 21 Apr 1990 (Bob Dye), one at the South Rim Sewage Lagoons on 1-2 May 1989 (Kevin Wentworth), one photographed at Lockett Lake on 7 May 2010 (Michael Schramm), and one at the Desert View Sewage Lagoons on 9 May 1976 (Bryan T. Brown). The only fall record is of one at the Tuweep Ranger Station on 22 Sept 1969 (Meribeth M. Riffey). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011.
