Notes
Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) Reports this species in areas adjacent to the park. Mittelhauser (1991) none observed from Great Head to Hunter's Beach on 20 January 1991; 1 observed from Seawall Point to Ship Harbor area on 20 January 1991. Russell (1984?) Very common to abundant fall and spring migrant, common in winter, rare in summer. The only place where they have been seen with regularity in winter is in the channel between Bartletts Island and MDI. Bond (19??) transient and winter resident; common but less so than the White-winged Scoter and the Surf Scoter. Sullivan (1937): Transient, common along the coast in spring and fall, occasionally in summer. Eliot (1931) Rare in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931; female observed at Fernalds Point.
