Notes
Park Species Detail: Checklist information (abundance, nativity) updated 4/9/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist. An individual was captured in "Bar Harbor" in 1900 (Palmer 1949) and was apparently an escapee from a captive population in Castine. Palmer (1949) "The specimen captured alive at Bar Harbor in the fall of 1900 (Dill 1901) was one of several brought from Florida and raised in captivity at Castine, Hancock County (Norton, 1916: 379; May, 1916)." Bond (19??) Accidental (one record from Bar Harbor in autumn of 1900; possibly one of two brought to Castine from Florida in 1899). Tyson and Bond (1941): One taken at Bar Harbor in the autumn of 1900, possibly released birds.
