Park Species Detail: Terrell, 1970: Abundant in low woods. Fl. Late April-early May. Cranberry Meadows, 1997: Common, Bridge Flats below Chain Bridge. BioBlitz, 1997-Chain Bridge Flats: Mile Post 4 to AZ Ave on flats, woods, riverside, Warren Steiner, Jil Swearingen, Larry Morse; nice, uninvaded floodplain forest. Wiegand, 2001b: An uncommon plant species occurring in rich floodplain forest on slightly elevated terraces above the river between the C&O Canal and the more open, scoured bedrock. Pawpaw (Asimina triloba) occurs throughout the floodplain forest in this area, although it is not as abundant as it is further upriver. 2 sites found.
