Originally distributed west of the Appalachian Mountains, in the Ohio River and Great Lakes watersheds. The canal systems of the last century are credited with giving the rock bass an avenue for colonizing Atlantic Ocean watersheds, like the Susquehanna River and Delaware River watersheds.; Data Source: Horowitz et al., 2008.
