Each of the light-colored scales on the side and interspaces between the blotches often has a small central spot. Identified by Olsen, Mel. Common name reported as gopher snake." The second was under the name P. c. deserticola (Acc# ARCH 0013, Cat# ARCH 909), and had the following notes, "Transferred to interpretation 21 Feb 1984. Adults 2.5 to 6 ft, up to 8 ft (uncommom) in length. Moderately stout-bodied head just a little wider than neck. See more description arch-892.
