Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) and Long (1987) report this species in areas adjacent to the park. Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Russell (1984?) very common to abundant year-round. Allen (1969): 1 singing male (presumably singing male on territory) at Western Point study area. Bond (1969) frequently observed close to farm buildings, occasionally they are found deep in the woods. Davis (1961): Present in his spruce/fir study plots within the park on MDI between 25 June and 5 July 1959; observed during the breeding season. Bond (19??) fairly common summer resident; increasing; one or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Increasing as a summer visitant on MDI; egg in yellow warblers nest at Northeast Harbor. Sullivan (1937) summer resident from April to October; increasing in numbers (Pellew). Farley (1935) observed 2 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934. Anthony (1933): 1 banded at Great Head between 12 August 1929 and 26 June 1933. Eliot (1931) Rare in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931; one male observed near Main Street, Northeast Harbor on 20 June 1931. Allen (1899): "One male seen near Bar Harbor, July 3, 1888, and one or more females at the same place on the 8th, by Francis B.
