Notes
Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) and Long (1987) report this species in areas adjacent to the park. Egg dates are mentioned, but no evidence of breeding (Witt 1997). Long (1987): widespread on MDI during the summer, abundant in late October and early November. Russell (1984?) common spring through fall, accidental in winter; the aspen woods near Sieur de Monts Spring has a good record of producing birds in both summer and fall. Favour (1970): Observed on 27 December 1959 on Mrs. Gott's lawn in Southwest Harbor. Bond (1969) widespread in summer on MDI but most abundant in late October and early November. Bond (19??) fairly common summer resident; sometimes abundant as a transient; 1 or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Present on MDI; breeding at Upper Hadlock Pond (see picture in Tyson and Bond 1941). Sullivan (1937): common summer resident, April to October; nest with 4 eggs observed 28 May 1924. Eliot (1931) Uncommon in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931; one was flushed at the northeast corner of Long Pond on June 21, 1931. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R.
