Park Species Detail: Stupka (1963) provides the most recent published records for the park; Dr. Trevor Rundle reported a singing male on several occasions on Purchase Knob in 2001 and Mark Armstrong detected this species during a study of nocturnal migrants over Purchase Knob ATBI Sensitivity = Park-Only Species Notes: Occasional Summer Resident, Migrant, Cades Cove; See Zink and Avise (1990) for relationships within genus AMMODRAMUS (based on analysis of mtDNA and allozymes); AMMODRAMUS (sensu AOU 1983) possibly is not monophyletic; previous generic limits (AOU 1957) seem better to reflect phylogeny than current taxo STATUS: Native, Migratory, Rare, Present in Park;; ; Sensitivity Notes: as a breeder only; General Notes: Stupka (1963) provides the most recent published records for the park; Dr. Trevor Rundle reported a singing male on several occasions on Purchase Knob in 2001 and Mark Armstrong detected this species during a study of nocturnal migrants over Purchase Knob in fall of 2003; Chicago Academy of Sciences houses two park specimens.
