A casual spring and fall migrant along the Colorado River, seen most often at or above Lees Ferry. There are three spring and five fall records. The only winter record is of one at RM 1.4 on 12 Feb 1999 (Peter G. Friederici, Roger K. Radd, Lara L. Dickson). A single and unexpected summer record was a bird at RM 214 on 24 July 1998 (Nikolle L. Brown). The only record of a Common Loon away from the river is one photographed and tape-recorded at the South Rim Sewage Ponds on 28 and 29 Apr 1985 (Karen Berggren and Connie Rudd).
