Notes
Park Species Detail: Hamilton, 2006: See Celastrus orbiculata TSN #27975, reported as "orthographic variant (misspelling)" in IT IS. Celastrus orbiculatus preferred by Gleason & Cronquist, 1991./Fleming, 2003: Not sampled or had very low frequency in plots -- potentially invasive and requires careful monitoring. Has been appearing with alarming frequency in shaded forest understories throughout the northern Piedmont and Blue Ridge provinces. Even though continuing expansion of exotic populations seems inevitable, monitoring studies to quantify the impact of selective exotic species and experimental research and management to identify ecologically sound, effective treatments for their reduction is warranted./DCR, 2003: Highly Invasive Species./, Park Species Data Source: Belden and Fleming, 2001; Fleming, 2003
