Notes
Park Species Detail: Checklist information (abundance) updated 4/11/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist. Report of a nest by Tyson and Bond (1941) in Town Hill was likely mid-identified (Palmer 1949). See Witt (1997). Long (1987) Recorded only as a migrant on MDI. Bond (1969) a regular transient on MDI; reports during the breeding season are questionable. Long (1951) heard singing throughout month of June 1950 on MDI. Palmer (1949) "Bond stated in a letter that the report of a nest found on Town Hill on MDI, published in Tyson and Bond (1941: 73), probably pertains to the junco." Bond (19??): former summer resident; now rare transient; known to nest on blueberry barrend in the interior of Hancock County. Tyson and Bond (1941): Rarest of the sparrows known to nest on MDI; found in summer only in Town Hill, nest found in Town Hill. Sullivan (1937) Not uncommon summer resident from May to October. Anthony (1933): 1 banded at Great Head between 12 August 1929 and 26 June 1933. Eliot (1931) Not observed on MDI during June or July 1931 but previously (often) reported from the island. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 23 June 1916. Allen (1899): not very common on MDI between 1880 and 1899., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Anthony (1933)
