Notes
Park Species Detail: Engelhardt, 2005: State Threatened. Declining nationally. Found in 5 plots.MD Heritage, 1997: Goldenseal, and dwarf larkspur (Delphinium tricorne) are unique to the Great Valley region of Maryland. Protection of this high quality limestone woods habitat would greatly advance the long term conservation of biodiversity in this region of Maryland. Management challenges include addressing non-native invasive plants, deer overpopulation, stream bank restoration and trail maintenance next to rare populations./MD Heritage, 1997: G4S1; population appears to be about same extent year to year. Need to protect from collection. Research long term viability of small population. (from plant survey form): 500-1000 plants scattered over 2+ acres, with flowers and immature fruit.Engelhardt, 2005: Found 5 times in 78 inventoried plots.Townsend, 2005: G4=Apparently Secure-Uncommon but not rare; some cause for long-term concern due to declines or other factors; S3=Vulnerable-At moderate risk of extirpation from the state due to a restricted range, relatively few populations (often 80 or fewer), recent and widespread declines, or other factors.
2009 State Rank S2: State threatened, Park Species Data Source: MD Heritage, 1997-Snavely Ford Woods; ; Engelhardt, 2005-Entire Park; NCR Advisory Team, 1999;
