Park Species Detail: Kirpatrick, 1992:Males leave hens after 1st week of incubation; Nests extremely hard to locate; 2nd largest eggs of any duck in N. Amer.; One of last ducks to reach breeding grounds and nest; Broods often combine to form large creches attended by a number of females.
