Schmidt reported capturing a spadefoot in the grasslands pitfall trap in the summer of 2002 at DETO. Smith et al. 2004 considers Schmidt 2002 as a reliable source. Smith et al (2004) report that the plains spadefoot is not found except after heavy rains in the spring or summer. Smith et al.
