  • Breeder
Also winter resident and spring and fall migrant. Confirmed breeder in the NYBBA online species lists for blocks: 1985 and 2003 5949A; 1985 5949C. These blocks have high probability that breeding confirmations occur within park boundaries. Possible breeding also for block 5949D. This block also encompasses suitable habitat that is outside of the park boundaries. Also confirmed by Harbor Herons Project at Canarsie Pol in 2002. Note: Zuzworsky's Jamaica Bay I&M reference lists this species as a confirmed breeder in 1997. However, no data is included as to method of confirmation.; Data Source: NYBBA web site (2004) - historic species lists as of 1985 and current species lists as of 2003 for blocks 5848A, 5848B, 5849B, 5849D, 5949A, 5949B, 5949C, 5949D and 5950C.
