Occurrence Notes
An uncommon summer resident and casual winter visitor to the Colorado River, particularly on upper Lake Mead. Most recent records from the river are likely of spring migrants, from 5 Apr to 10 Jun. Away from the river it is a casual migrant. There are two records in spring (3 May, 24 May) and one summer record of four adults at Clayhole Tank on 23 Jun 2010 (Troy Corman). The two fall records are: one near the Desert View Sewage Lagoons, 12 Sept 2006 (Brian P. Gatlin, Madeline C. Tighe) and another at the South Rim Sewage Lagoons 12-20 Sept 1985 (Connie Rudd, Karen Berggren). Data source: Gatlin, BP. 2011.
