STATUS: Native, Breeder, Uncommon, Present in Park;; General Notes: subgenus Otisorex; ITIS accepts S. h. winnemana (Preble, 1910) as a valid subspecies, presumably for the disjunct southern App. population (no online range maps/references for this subspecies
