Park Species Detail: Bowes et al. 1999) Likely native to Mount Desert Island but current distribution may have been helped by angler bait releases; recently documented in Aunt Betty Pond (1998, J. Le), abundant in Bear Brook Pond (July 1995, J. Burgess), abundant in The Bowl (1995, J. Burgess); Duck Pond (1995, J. Burgess), Eagle Lake (1998, J. Le), Jordan Stream (April 1983), and Witch Hole Pond (1995, MDIFW). Burgess (1995): present at Bear Brook Pond, the Bowl, and Duck Pond during July 1995. Farris (1992) seined from Bass Harbor Estuary during October 1990 to October 1991. Dubuc et al. (1988) identified this species from scat samples of River Otter. Zabinski and Olday (1975): Present in The Tarn. Fuller and Cooper (1946) collected during surveys with seines in Seal Cove Pond, Upper Hadlock Pond, Jordan Pond, Eagle Lake, and Bubble Pond during the summer of 1942.
