Park Species Detail: Witt (1997) reports this species in areas directly adjacent to the park.
Russell (1984?) abundant fall migrant, uncommon in winter, accidental in summer. They typically migrate further offshore and are uncommon at best in more interior waters.
Favour (1970): Observed at "Bar Harbor" by Franklin Anthony on 20 December 1958 CBC. 4 individuals were also noted on 15 December 1958 at "Bar Harbor" by P. Favour. Also observed on 3 January 1970 in the Bar Harbor Cove.
Bond (1969) occasionally seen in summer.
Bond (19??) Common transient; a few individuals pass the summer around MDI, but do not nest.
Sullivan (1937): rare visitor; occasionally seen in summer and fall (Pellew).
Allen (1899): Uncommon migrant on MDI between 1880 and 1899.
