Park Species Detail: Shriner (2001) provides the most recent published records; Stupka (1963) publishes breeding records; park collections house three park specimens; Chicago Academy of Sciences houses one park specimen. ATBI Sensitivity = Public Species Notes: Fairly Common Permanent Resident; Breeds in Park; Ellsworth et al. (1995) examined phylogenetic relationships among North American grouse based on mtDNA data and found that FALCIPENNIS CANADENSIS is more closely related to BONASA UMBELLUS (ruffed grouse) than to DENDRAGAPUS OBSCURUS (blue grouse), which STATUS: Native, Breeder, Uncommon, Present in Park;; ; Sensitivity Notes: if evidence of poaching may change to ""0""; General Notes: Shriner (2001) provides the most recent published records; Stupka (1963) publishes breeding records; park collections house three park specimens; Chicago Academy of Sciences houses one park specimen.
