Notes
Park Species Detail: Checklist information (abundance, nativity) updated 4/11/03 by professional judgement of Bruce Connery, ACAD wildlife biologist. Jones (1986) reports an observation of this species at Sunken Heath on 18 November 1973. Long (1987) reports this is an occasional breeder on Grand Manan Island. Russell (1984?) Accidental; 2 records as follows: 1 observed at Otter Point on 11 January 1969 (Many observers); and 1 bird flushed from Sunken Heath on 18 November 1973 (S. Katona et al.). Certainly not as rare as records indicate. Bond (1969) no summering records but known to have nested on Grand Manan Island. Palmer (1949) Probably was an occasional summer resident on MDI; probably a very rare winter resident on MDI. Bond (19??) rare transient, probably an occasional winter resident and possibly an occasional summer resident. Tyson and Bond (1941) suggests species is occasional summer resident and very rare winter resident. Sullivan (1937): Rare resident; specimen taken on MDI (reportedly in Park Museum). Eliot (1931) Not observed on MDI during June or July 1931 but previously reported from the island; sometimes reported on the Heaths at Seawall and others., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Jones (1986); Russell (1984?)
