Witt (1997) Reports this species in areas adjacent to the park.
Russell (1984?) Uncommon to fairly common in winter. Reports that a flock has wintered in the inner part of Southwest Harbor since at least 1965. Also reports this species on salt water near the outflow of Little Harbor Brook, and off the mouth of Northeast Creek. A handwritten note reports that 30 were reported wintering in Trenton Bay, Jan-March 1979 (M.E. Scott, MBL 1(1)).
Palmer (1949) Adult male shot at Indian Point on 14 November 1940 (Bond); Brower and others (1939) reported about 25 on MDI on 24 December 1938; specimens taken on 10 April 1885 and 10 April 1888 at Bar Harbor.
Bond (19??) winter resident; rare.
