Seasonality Tags
  • Resident
Winter resident; Also spring and fall migrant. May occur as rare non-breeding summer resident. Zuzworsky's Jamaica Bay I&M reference lists this species as extirpated as a breeder as of 1997. Although a confirmed breeder in the 1985 NYBBA, there are no confirmations in the data collected as of 2003 for the update to the NYBBA. Confirmed breeder in the NYBBA online species lists for block: 1985 5949A. Probable breeder in 1985 5949C. These blocks have high probability that breeding confirmations occur within park boundaries. Note: FBF checklist records this species as a confirmed breeder, but the species does not occur in the online species lists for the blocks that encompass FBF - blocks 5849B and 5849D.; Data Source: Davis, T., Taft, D., and Riepe, D. (1996); Audubon web site (2003)
