Park Species Detail: Russell (1984?) Uncommon spring migrant, common fall migrant, accidental in winter. Reports single birds calling at Sieur de Monts Marsh and Schooner Head Marsh on 28 May 1971 (W. Townsend et al.). The Marsh at Schooner Head is the best place to hear these birds, particularly in the early fall. Bond (1969) may breed on MDI occasionly, an adult and immature seen at Hamilton Pond on 18 August (no year given) may have been either native birds or early transients. Palmer (1949) Unusual record is a bird caught and banded at Otter Creek on 17 March 1937 by Mrs. E.A. Anthony. Bond (19??) rare transient; breeds in Washington County. Tyson and Bond (1941): One banded at Otter Creek during 17 March 1937. Sullivan (1937): Captured at Otter Creek on 17 on March 1937, another reported 30 April 1937 at Otter Creek; one seen at Bar Harbor by Dr. A.E. Brower on 1 September 1935., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Russell (1984?) Legacy NPSpecies information may no longer be applicable, please remove if it is not applicable. In legacy NPSpecies Residency was Unknown with comment: No birds observed in summer months although nesting is suspected (Witt 1997). Long (1987): Downy young were observed in a marsh near Hamilton Pond, no details given. Adamus (1983) breeding scattered in Maine.
