Notes
Park Species Detail: NOTE: See the Willow Flycatcher (Empidonax traillii) for possible additional records of this species. Witt (1997): Common breeder on Mount Desert Island (Witt 1997), although no nesting records listed for within park boundaries. Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Long (1987): common on MDI. Tyson and Bond (1941): Nests at low elevations on MDI. Sullivan (1937): Note: Written as Empidonax trailli trailli with the common name of Alder Flycatcher; seems likely that this is Empidonax alnorum but some of these observations might refer to Empidonax traillii. Fairly common summer resident from May to September; nest with 2 eggs found on 24 June 1924. Farley (1935) reported 11 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934. Eliot (1931): Common in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931, less generally distributed; present at the swales just west of Sargent's summit. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 9 June 1915. Allen (1899): fairly common on MDI between 1880 and 1899., Park Species Data Source: Witt (1997); Sharp (1997); Farley (1935); Eliot (1931)
