Name change from Capella gallinago to Gallinago gallinago (Common snipe) in 1983. Winnowing courtship flights at Hidden Lake (Van Buskirk and Smith 1994). Courtship flights and calls are regularly heard near open beaver ponds in May; 5 records in July 1970 by R. O. Peterson (Johnsson, Shelton, and Jordan 1982).; Data Source: Egan 2005.
