First seen in the region in 1990, Long-tailed Duck is a very rare but increasingly regular winter visitor to the Colorado River from Glen Canyon Dam to Lees Ferry. Individuals have been seen in at least 12 different winters since 1990. Three were photographed below Glen Canyon Dam from 2 Apr through 3 May 2010 (Shaun Putz, Gerry Nealon).
