Occurrence Notes
An uncommon to fairly common spring and fall migrant throughout the region. It is a casual winter visitor, with a single winter record of one at RM 193.9 on 23 Feb 1998 (Charles T. LaRue, Roger K. Radd). The mixed conifer forests of the Kaibab Plateau seem to provide extensive suitable breeding habitat for Hammond’s Flycatcher (Corman 2005b), but summer records and evidence for breeding are lacking. Notes
(Empidonax hammondii) Determining the relative abundance of Hammond’s Flycatcher is complicated by the difficulty of distinguishing it from the very similar Dusky Flycatcher, but it is an uncommon to fairly common spring and fall migrant throughout the region.
