Park Species Detail: Sharp (1997) Recorded from within park boundaries during the Breeding Bird Survey conducted June 1996. Long (1987): Present at the shore by Wonderland; very common on MDI. North and Chidester (1986) Observed from Jordan Cliffs between July and September 1986. Russell (1984?) common spring migrant and breeder, very common to abundant fall migrant, very rare in winter; maximum spring count of 100+ in the Sieur de Monts Spring area on 8 May 1967 (D. Gallinat). Favour (1970) reports this species on the 28 December 1969 MDI CBC at Otter Point. Allen (1969): Present at Western Point; singing males observed (presumably on territory). Bond (1969) Nest discovered on the border of Long Pond. Davis (1961): Present in his spruce/fir study plots within the park on MDI between 25 June and 5 July 1959; considered a breeding bird. Bond (1955): Common woodland species near Ship Harbor. Bond (19??) common summer resident; 1 or more nests have been found. Tyson and Bond (1941): Abundant on MDI. Sullivan (1937) Abundant summer resident from early May to October (Pellew). Farley (1935) reported 4 pairs on MDI, observed between 12 June and 22 June 1934. Anthony (1933): 6 banded at Great Head between 12 August 1929 and 26 June 1933. Eliot (1931): Common in the Northeast Harbor area during June 1931, distributed over whole area, settled or wild; probably as common as the Nashville. Also observed on MDI by Mr. And Mrs. C.R. Robbins on 3 June 1916. Allen (1899): common on MDI between 1880 and 1899.
